Great Dane plays football
My Great Dane Princeton’s new favorite toy is a REAL football! He can actually fit it into his enormous mouth!
Princeton loves mouthing things with his big old mouth. Finally we found a toy big enough for his huge mouth, and he LOVES it.
Does anybody know where to get GIANT toys suitable for Great Danes? This football was not built to stand up against dog teeth.
Now almost 17 months old, Princeton is getting A LOT better about not mouthing the many tempting things that he’s not supposed to mouth -- especially my arms and small children. When I say “Leave it,” he usually listens. If not, I get his attention with a squeaker toy that I carry at all times when we’re out -- a great tip from our new trainer.
He’s also learned what it means to “CALM DOWN” -- although it often takes a while. I’m learning how to stay calm, too. We keep practicing.

Aw...Princeton looks so sweet with his football. So funny - over here when we say "football" - we mean a round black & white thing! :-)
That's great that he's coming on in his training and learning self-control...sounds like all your hard work with the trainer is paying off!

That picture of your big boy was so cute! Little sly look out of the corner of his eye. Love it.
Football? Huh, I'm jealous. I don't have one of those. I do have a basketball and I had a soccer ball. Momma took the soccer ball away because I tore it with my teeth. Can you kick the football around? That's may favorite.
My favorite toy is the Jolly Ball...I have not been able to ruin it yet even though I really try! It has a handle that makes it spin and bounce in funny ways. My mom says it is the greatest toy ever for a Great Dane like me! Here is a link for it my mom helped me to find: http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3207061&lmdn=Dog+Toys
Licks from Piper in Minnesota
so cute and so funny!
jason would LOVE if darwin was this interested in football!
we've had to put a couple of her toys away in a "give to a smaller dog" pile, cause her favorite small squeaker toy she could swallow if she wanted to!
Hey love, hes lookin fine...
I have the same problem with toys and the gils... the only that have lasted ive had to pay good money for.. and their Wubbas.
A soccer ball they cant mouth as much but will chase it when we kick it between us. There favourits are an old icecream container or a milk container with the lid on. If one picks it up the other wants it...
Sounds like he is settling. Someone told me they are a pup for 3yrs, an adult for 3 and an old dog for 3. So I always remember mine are just big kids.
How old is winston now?

this may be perfect!
Now you need a football jersey!
Gus and Waldo love playing with a Kong snake that we found at Petsmart. We finally had to throw it away after 5 months of serious tugging. Here's a link for it: http://www.sitstay.com/dog/supplies/servlet/product_10001_10001_41711_-1_Snake+by+Dr.+Noys_13252_31904_13251
Hi, could you take a look at this?

I thank you and Princeton for everything.
Wow, thanks for all the great toy suggestions! Now I have plenty of ideas for Christmas presents. The Orbee-Tuff football looks especially great. Princeton has popped his football, although he still enjoys playing with it in a limp, deflated form. Just today we walked by kids playing football and he went crazy pulling the leash, trying to join the football game.
